You want to stay where? Pt. 1

We have all been there; your husband, wife, partner or best friends cousins say,” We want to stay some place different this time”. Defining what each person thinks different means can be quite tricky. Any themed hotel will not do for your discerning travel companions.

Hotels are stepping it up when it comes to theming lately. From elaborately themed rooms to historical recreation and all the way to a completely immersive hotel experiences, hotels are taking serious chances when it comes to providing a guest experience in a way previously only seen within the me parks and homes for the extravagantly rich.

Below are a few examples of hotels and rooms that represent the next generation (either new or historical) of theming in regards to your next sleeping/vacation adventure. What is it about sleeping in such an immersive experience that appeals to us? Why would we care if the place we “just sleep in” has any theming at all? Let us know what you think and in the mean time, enjoy the tour if find the next amazing place to take your friends and family on holiday, feel free to take the credit, we won’t tell them.

Starting on the modest end is a beautifully themed individual pod “Tree House” hotel. There are many so-called “tree house” style hotels but we found the theme and style of this one to be unique. Externally it has a smooth, round almost sci-fi feel to it but inside it is reminiscent of a small Hobbit hole. Free Spirit Spheres on Vancouver Island in Canada allows for year round stays at the low rates of the scale at about $235 per night for the higher end spheres.

Want to try something bit more unique and exciting? How about sleeping and partying at sea but NOT on a boat…

Spitbank Fortwas once a Victorian fort used to defend Plymouth. Luckily it was never used in defense and has now been “re-purposed” as luxury accommodation. The entire facility virtually screams luxury in an otherwise rustic surrounding. With a variety of themed evenings and packages, Spitbankpromises and unique experience. With a weekday overnight package for two starting at roughly £495, this location is entering the themed experience a bit higher on the pay scale but promises something truly original and as you can see from the images, it is very well themed.

So you say your mother gets sea-sick, but she still wants to go on a cruise… Well, we can sort that out to by just heading over to Korea for the most impressively themed hotel we have ever seen. At the very least this one gets serious points for originality. Imagine taking a cruise without ever leaving land… Yes, you read that right, not dock locked but land locked!

Sun Cruise Resortoffers years round accommodation on their on land, purpose-built cruise ship. The “ship” has all of the usual facilities and amenities on board most cruise ships, without the added concerns of sea sickness, hurricanes or pirates. With a weekly night rate starting at roughly 80,000 KRW and going up from there, the Sun Cruise Resortoffers a unique and original, themed experience.
