Air New Zealand has taken the love for the Hobbit to new heights(sorry about the pun), by theming it’s baggage claim area.
New Zealand is never shy about pushing it’s personal attachment to the JRR Tolkien novels and the current branding of the country is no exception. With the city of Wellington claiming itself Middle Earth for the next week, it seems that the whole country is going mad for all things Tolkien as we lead up to the premier or part 1 of Peter Jackson’s epic The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey.
In the mean time locals(and travellers),will have the chance to see more of the theming and advertising that Hollywood and the New Zealand government is dumping millions of dollars into, in the hopes of promoting the film and the stunningly beautiful country it was and will continue to be shot in.
Some will call it clever marketing, others will call it tacky, but there is no denying that all of New Zealand is taking ownership (or milking the cash cow)that is The Hobbit.
