While many Trekkies were sad to see the Star Trek: The Experience in Vegas go away, it seems they may get another chance to experience the world of Gene Roddenberry again. With the opening of Paramount Park in Spain, guests will once again be able to relive their favourite moments and make some new ones in the new wing of the park called Plaza Futura.
As you can see by the concept art below the plaza has a distinctly Star Trek theming, taking quotes from all of the movies and shows with an emphasis on the more modern JJ Abrams versions of the films.
The colour palettes are more stark with coloured highlights, giving the land and architecture a distinctly “futuristic” feel. It is what we have come to recognise as just slightly in the future, with spiralling glass buildings and lots of white and blue tones.
Plaza Futura will be a large central square which will house a Starfleet Spain recruiting center, a 3d simulation ride which guests will rude as new recruits and a Warp Speed Coaster which will include a worm hole (which will go underground) and a plethora of loops and the usual coaster tricks.
There will be additional IP’s involved in making this park, specifically in Adventure City where guests will be able to walk through Sleepy Hollow’s Woods, visit Rango’s Wild West and eat at the Corlione Restaurant ala The Godfather. We will of course bring more details on these additional lands as they are developed. Until then Plaza Futura is scheduled for opening in late 2015.
