What do you get when you blend a robotics research facility with a theme park and entertainment complex? For those of you who said West World!… Well done. For the rest of you; you get Roboland.
Roboland will be a 762,286m square location and will be a combination training, research facility, R&D lab, Post Graduate robotics school, sports stadium and family entertainment destination. 343, 950m square of this property will be theme park related including administration and a water park. In addition there will be condos, a street mall, a hotel and a neighbourhood and reservation area.
Combining traditionally known Korean tales and characters with robotics, Roboland is hoping to utilize new technologies to bring entertainment to what many see as a boring field. Some of the released “art” for the park rides show rollercoasters that go into underwater tubes, water rides that plummet indoors and elaborate night and fireworks shows.
They are hoping to host international robot games, including battle arenas exhibition areas and conference locations in the area called Robot Kingdom. This will also be the location that will house robot R&D as well as the Robot History of Future show.
Robot City will house the Water Rapid ride, a Robot Aquarium and AutoFactory. Here, guests will experience robot automation as bots build various items in factory simulation models.
The goal of the entire complex is to, “Create a future world with robots”. So we will have to see if the design and location is used to build a bridge across the bridge between robotics and mankind or if it all ends in a “Skynet” situation in 2016. Either way we will bring you updated news as it evolves… assuming our new robot masters will allow us of course.
