Think theme parks are just for the mouse, movies and people looking to mix family entertainment with sex education (we are looking at you South Korea)? In any case you would be wrong, the next evolutionary step for theme Parks would be? Why, food of course. Leave it to Italy to come up with the logic of a foodie Theme park!
Fico Eataly World will be devoted entirely to food and wine. The combined forces of Eataly and the municipality of Bologna will be collaborating to build a 86,000 square ft. park for roughly $55 million.
The park will contain a variety of stores, restaurants, and food labs. There has been no word yet on whether rides or attractions in any form will be featured but the company is insisting it is a theme park so we will have to wait and see how much “theming” is actually done. The concept art however shows some gorgeously themed areas and has promise. With the University of Gelato just around the corner we certainly have high hopes for this culinary concept. With the media hyping it as “Disneyland for foodies”, it will have big shoes to fill by its opening date of November 2015
We will keep you updated as more news and construction images are released.
